These are the figures whose lives, loves, and legends shape the entire saga. Each carries secrets. Each carries magic. Each carries a destiny that echoes across timelines. ⭐ BLAKE ALEXANDER/ Alexandrite Argent The immortal hero with too many masks and too much heart. Blake is a man who has lived many lives — knight, outlaw, magician, coroner, prince, Merlin, superhero, and eventually the quiet elder known as Fred. He loves fiercely, fights recklessly, and carries centuries of grief and hope in equal measure. Where Blake walks, stories follow. Why readers love him: He is brave, messy, romantic, tragic, funny, and endlessly human — even when he’s not. ⭐ ANGELA ALEXANDER/ Antase Argent The woman whose love anchors the universe. Angela is Blake’s equal in every timeline — a noblewoman, a magician, a survivor, a mother, a queen, a ghost, a miracle. Her fates vary across worlds, but her presence is constant: she is the heart that keeps Blake human. Why readers love her: She is quiet strength, sharp intelligence, and devastating emotional depth. ⭐ FRED ALEXANDER /Sapphirus Argent Blake’s oldest self — gentle, wise, and heartbreakingly human. Fred is Blake after centuries have softened him. He is wry, weary, kind, and terrifyingly powerful when he must be. He is the version of Blake who has finally stopped running. Why readers love him: He is the warm, tired, ancient soul who still chooses love. ⭐ MORTIMER — THE GRAND REAPER The cosmic shadow behind Blake. Mortimer is Blake’s oldest, darkest incarnation — the ancient Reaper‑King who remembers every death and every lifetime. He is not evil; he is inevitable. He is the part of Blake that Blake fears becoming. Why readers love him: He is chilling, elegant, and strangely compassionate. ⭐ LANCE ALEXANDER / Lakelandite Argent The necromancer son with a sharp tongue and a sharper destiny. Lance is brilliant, sarcastic, and perpetually exasperated by his family’s chaos. He works in the afterlife administration and has a knack for showing up at the worst possible moment. Why readers love him: He is hilarious, terrifying, and deeply loyal. ⭐ TEMPUS The Timekeeper — ancient, quiet, inevitable. Tempus is the guardian of the timeline, the being who understands Blake’s paradoxes better than anyone. He does not interfere; he shepherds. Why readers love him: He is mysterious, gentle, and cosmic in the softest way. ⭐ MORGANITE ALEXANDER The son of two emperors — calm, brilliant, burdened. Morganite is a time traveller, a prime minister, and the anchor that holds the universe together when everything threatens to fall apart. Why readers love him: He is composed, compassionate, and quietly heroic. ⭐ REYNARD The iron‑willed commander and Blake’s adopted brother. Reynard sees through lies instantly — including Blake’s. His loyalty to Fred is absolute, and his presence adds tension and authority to every scene. Why readers love him: He is fierce, protective, and morally unshakeable. ⭐ DANTE DRAC The stage manager of the afterlife. Dante is Fred’s oldest friend — sharp‑tongued, loyal, and unexpectedly tender. He keeps the afterlife running with equal parts competence and sarcasm. Why readers love him: He is the perfect blend of humour and heart. ⭐ THE UNIVERSE IN ONE SENTENCE Blake is the fire. Fred is the ember. Angela is the heart. Mortimer is the shadow. And everyone else is caught in the light between them. By night, he becomes something else entirely. When moonlight falls, Blake rides the roads as a masked cavalier, rescuing the innocent from witch‑hunters and tyrants who prey on fear. His daring exploits ignite whispers across King James’s England — and the wrath of the relentless zealot Sir Ezekiel Thorn. But when Blake’s wife, Angela, is accused of witchcraft, his carefully crafted disguise shatters. A single act of defiance on a scaffold sets in motion a chain of events that will shake a kingdom, topple reputations, and force Blake to choose between the mask he wears and the man he truly is. A tale of courage, deception, and love strong enough to defy kings, The Moonlight Cavalier is the legend of a knight who rides in shadows — and the woman who sees the truth beneath the wig. The Night Fox A knight who cannot die. A king who cannot rule. A mask that becomes a legend. When Blake de Clare rises as the Night Fox, England trembles. Sherwood whispers his name. King John fears it. And Death itself walks beside him. From the rescue of Longsword to the dungeon escape that defies mortality, this is the birth of a rebellion… and the road to Magna Carta. - The Magicians 1st Story | Rachel Lawson Author
The Full Story About Welcome to The Magicians Where the stage is real, the magic is dangerous, and the dead never wait their turn Every universe begins somewhere. For The Magicians, it began on a stage — a simple magic show that refused to stay simple. A tuxedo, a top hat, a few tricks… and then the truth slipped out. The magician was a sorcerer. His assistant was undead. The ghost in the wings wanted an autograph. And the Grim Reaper was waiting backstage for paperwork. From that first chaotic performance, a world was born. A world where illusion and reality blur. Where necromancers moonlight as entertainers. Where vampires argue about bureaucracy. Where telepathy is casual conversation. Where the dead interrupt shows because they “heard you talk to ghosts.” Where the afterlife is literally in someone’s backyard. This is the heart of The Magicians: a blend of comedy, supernatural drama, stagecraft, and the kind of magical mishaps that only happen when the living, the dead, and the undead all think they’re the star of the show. Every story that followed — the musical tales, the concert‑dramas, the cosmic adventures — grew from this first spark. This is where the curtain first rose. This is where the magic began. - What The-? | Rachel Lawson Author
When Musgrave agrees—against his better judgment—to follow the eccentric Professor Van Bolt into a cemetery at midnight, he expects nothing more than another lecture on “proper vampire‑slaying technique.” What he gets instead is a sarcastic skeleton claiming to be a vampire, a panicked professor sprinting for his life, and himself waking up inside a coffin with sunlight creeping in. Now trapped between a terrified academic, an offended undead gentleman, and his own rusty pocket knife, Musgrave discovers that the creatures of the night are real… just not at all what he expected. A comedic romp through classic monster lore, this story blends spooky mayhem with deadpan humour, proving that sometimes the scariest thing in a graveyard is how unprepared you are. Graveyards are dangerous — especially when the undead have a sense of humour. What The-? I once met a man from an old land, who told me of the creatures of the night please understand, he was a hunter by trade, before me a bloody wooden stake he laid, he muttered the blood is the life, looking at it I wonder why not use a knife, I asked what he did hunt with a stake, he said vampires before they wake, he used the stake I had no doubt, I said the dead do not go out, he knew I did not believe so he did apologize and took his leave. Tell me why you dragged me to a cemetery at midnight again" I asked professor Van Bolt "To kill a vampire they rise when the day's gone," the professor said examining his stake. "Are you serious I told you vampires aren't real" I shouted sitting on a grave I was whittling. a stick with an old rusty pocket knife. a crypt opened. "Look out a Vampire" I shouted dropping my stick and putting my knife away. A skeleton walked out. "what the-" I cried, "is that supposed to be a vampire honestly" "I am," said the skeleton offended. "I can't kill a skeleton with a stake. " The professor said aghast he panicked dropping the stake and running shouting at me "run Musgrave run for your life boy." "Professor," I said he was gone. The vampire swooped in to attack me I pulled out my rusty pocket knife. the Vampire stood as if horrified. The vampire burst into laughter. "you are very funny!" it said, "what have I to fear of a knife" I dropped it. He went in for the kill. and said "I'll save that one for later" I fainted. " where am I?" I asked waking in a box, "It looks like a coffin! I didn't die," I panicked. I thought someone could save me, and the skeletal vampire was gone. "Help! help!" I cried and heard in reply the professor scream. "I bashed on the coffin trying to get out," the lid was loosely on but too heavy to move I saw sunlight. "I'll let you out," a voice said, and the lid came off. I saw my savior was the vampire he said, "I will take you now!," I screamed.
